The LAIIX infrastructure consists of two (primary and secondary) Foundry BigIron LAN switches. The LAIIX switch is interconnected to the CIIX (formerly LAAP) switch. Thus LAIIX members can peer with any members at CIIX (formerly LAAP). The address space of 198.32.146.0/24 is shared with LAAP for interoperability.

The LAIIX supports any type of connections:

	10-100 BASE-T Half/Full Duplex
	1000 BASE-SX via MMF
	1000 BASE-LX via SMF
